DNS Lookup

Domain Intelligence and Analysis
POST /api/v1/domain/dns Bearer

DNS Lookup API — live DNS records for a hostname, resolved at request time rather than served from a cache. Supports A, AAAA, MX, NS, SOA, TXT, SPF and CNAME; omit record_type to fetch every type in one call. Every record is returned in the same flat shape — name, type, ttl, value, priority, raw — so you never branch on record type to read the answer. priority is populated for MX records and 0 elsewhere; raw carries the original zone-file line.

What DNS Lookup Is Used For

Migration verification

Confirm A, AAAA, CNAME and NS records resolved as expected after a cutover, at request time rather than from a cache.

Mail deliverability checks

Read MX, TXT and SPF records to diagnose why mail to a domain is failing.

Monitoring and alerting

Watch a record for an unexpected change that signals a hijack or a misconfiguration.

One call for every type

Omit record_type to fetch all record types in a single billable request, in one flat shape.

1. Copy your API key from Dashboard → API Keys

🔑 Remember API Key

One-click convenience for testing & troubleshooting — no account needed.

1

What it doesSaves your API key in this browser only using localStorage. Next time you open a docs page, the Try It panel is pre-filled automatically.

2

Auto-updatesIf you type a different key into any Try It field, the saved key is replaced instantly — only the most recent key is ever stored.

3

Uncheck to forgetUnchecking “Remember API Key” immediately deletes the stored key and clears the field. While unchecked, nothing is saved even if you type a new key.

4

Re-check to save againChecking the box again saves whatever key is currently in the Try It field.

⚠ Security note: Your key is stored only in your browser and is never sent to any server except as part of the actual API call you send. Do not use this feature on shared or public computers.
